Gallery H

Post-Cartesian and Ab-Ex 1986-1987

This gallery begins with the small dual-image Vera, and ends with the full-throttle abstract expressionist Space Chase. At this time, ancillary to my focus on painting I developed a passion for the experimental prose and poetry of the Beat Generation writers-- Kerouac, Ginsberg, Burroughs, and Corso. I was equally interested in their literature as I was interested in visual art. I believe that my experience with the written word at that point influenced and broadened my ideas about the aesthetic potential of visual art.
