FryeWorks is based on the design philosophy and craftsmanship of David Frye. Over the course of his twenty-five year career, David has worked with the top historical frame dealer and some of the top contemporary frame designers in New York City, absorbing the history of framing from the Renaissance to the modern era. As a designer of contemporary frames, his philosophy is to emphasize the presence of the art by creating a frame that operates as a subtle intermediary between the artwork and the world. Drawing on an extensive knowledge of materials and conservation technologies, he aims to construct an environment that allows the artwork to "speak" most effectively, while preserving its material qualities in ways that are undetectable to the viewer.
