Saint Helices 73, 10" x 7", watercolor, 1997. Artist's collection.
This watercolor is in part a continuation of the "radiant center" light scheme developed two years previous in the process of creating the intaglio print Saint Helices P1C (see Drawings and Prints Gallery). I am also utilizing a "star pattern" which is formulated by tracking the movements of a single point as it is plotted in the quadrants of a single square within a much larger grid scheme. The radiant center represents eternity and the tracking of the point through the sub quadrants of the larger grid represents time. The edge forms, as they have always, represent the concept or idea of interfacing the issues of eternity and time, which is transcendence.
