This version is similar to version 50 in that it combines abstract expressionist elements with the Saint Helices edge forms rendered within the abstract brushwork. This is the first version which utilizes the "assemblage" technique. The edge forms are produced and painted separately from the picture plane and later adhered to the surface in their proper location and orientation. The "assemblage" edge forms are slightly raised from the surface of the picture plane and thereby produce a low relief sculptural effect within the overall composition.
