Saint Helices 34, 12" x 9", watercolor, 1992. Artist's collection.

The color of the upper-central area becomes a factor here. This tone of blue-green devised in this version will remain the standard color of this area of the Saint Helices composition for most all of the versions to follow. The upper-most area in this version is now modulating from light to dark accentuating the visual space between its adjacent area of the composition. This treatment of the upper-most area will become the standard for the Saint Helices composition. Again, both star patterns are utilized in the upper-central area of this version. There is also an overall nebulous quality in the rendering of the upper-central area.
