Panel Cure, 56" x 66", oil on paper, 1986. Museum collection.

The small white circle in this composition is the only element of the work that was derived from a dream state. In the dream there was someone, possibly a child, who was suffering, possibly me, I don't recall. But I vividly recall two white (light) figures leaning over this white form which they held between them and said, "This will cure what ails the little one." The form they were holding was half spherical and flat on the bottom. Its spherical top was smoothly constructed, but it was bisected into quadrants. The quadrants opened in concert like a flower. I have tried to engineer the construction of such a form, but to do so the spherical quadrant elements would need to open while remaining intact with the base without altering its circular form which is structurally implausible.
