Dancer, 30" x 24", oil on canvas, 1982. Artist's collection.

This monochrome photo-realist painting was painted at the same time as the previous "Mixing Mediums" painting. The merit of the composition here belongs solely to the photographic work of Karen Walker who was a friend of mine at the time and who generously provided this image from a portfolio of black and white images for me to paint. I chose to paint the dancer in crimson and the moonlit windows in violet.

During this period and for a few years to come I changed painting styles at the drop of a hat. I was desirous to engage the creative experience unique to vastly differing techniques in painting. My approach to becoming an artist was intuitive and process oriented as opposed to specific and product oriented.
