The original blind sketch for these seated figures was transformed into a planar/cubist motif and painted in a manner which accommodates the narrative aspect of the composition. The left figure's right foot reappears in the reflection of the mirror behind the two figures. This time/space/form interplay is a device first utilizing in Mixing Mediums exhibited in the Early Works gallery.
